Can You Guess Who I am? I was born on March 20, 1948, in a small community in the Province of Ontario Canada. I began to play organized hockey at the age of five, in the minor squirt division. I started out playing hockey as a forward but I was soon moved to playing defense. By the age of twelve, I began to attract the attention of NHL scouts. At fourteen I Attended my first tryout camp with the Flyers organization, I later joined the Oshawa Generals at the age of fourteen, where I became an all-star for three out of my four years there. During 1961 I began to receive interest from three NHL teams (Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadians, and the Detroit Red Wings). I eventually signed a contract in 1962.
In 1966 I entered the ranks of the NHL. I played for an American based team, one of the original six. My first professional contract made me the highest-paid player in NHL history as a rookie. My second contract made me the first million dollar contract in the NHL. Can you guess who I’ am?
I made my junior debut in the 1962-1963 season for the Oshawa Generals. I made the OHA First-All Star team every season I was in the OHA.
