Taking a stand for Jesus
Ivan Provorov recently made headlines and garnered the hockey world’s attention, not for his ability as an NHL defenseman or his bone-crushing hits. He made headlines because he chose not to participate in the Philadelphia Flyers LBGTQ Pride Night. He was the only player who refused to wear the rainbow-colored jersey.
When reporters confronted him about his refusal, he said, “I respect everyone. I respect everybody’s choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion.” They next asked him about his religion, and Provorov replied, “Russian Orthodox.” For this, he has received an extreme amount of disdain from woke liberal leftists.
Leftists proclaim to be kind, loving people who believe in equality and acceptance for everyone, but their actions, tone, and behavior reveal the opposite. Suppose you agree with their immorality and constant pressure to promote their agenda. In that case, you are safe from their wrath, but if you should reveal that you’re Christian or respectfully refuse to be intimidated into pretending to support their Satanic lifestyle, expect them to attack you; all the while, they are utterly oblivious to their hypocrisy.
Since the Provorov controversial decision, woke media analysts publicly shamed and chastised him. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun commented on Twitter, “But Provorov obviously does not respect “everyone.” If he had respected everyone, he would have participated in warm-up and worn the Pride Night jersey. Don’t hide behind religion.
Canadian television broadcaster and cohost of Breakfast Television on the Citytv network Sid Seixero went on an unhinged rant. They blasted the National Hockey League for allowing Provorov to sit out by reminding the league that its recent slogan is “Hockey is for Everyone.”
“The theme from the National Hockey League is ‘Hockey is for everyone,’ okay,” Seixeiro seethed. “The theme is not, ‘Hockey is for everyone … unless you don’t believe in gay rights, then do whatever you want.’ If the National Hockey League’s gonna do this, if any league’s gonna do this, do it properly, or reevaluate what you’re doing because there’s not a lot of repercussions that I’m seeing from any league.”
“I think you fine the Flyers a million dollars for this. I’m not kidding. Figure this out and stop offending people on nights when it’s not about that. It’s supposed to be about inclusivity. The National Hockey League needs to attack this and figure this out because what I heard last night was offensive and didn’t make any sense,” Seixeiro said.
“I just think the NHL has to do something here,” the TV host blathered. “This is not good enough. ‘Hockey is for everyone … unless you don’t agree with gay rights’ is not the phrasing of this. You’re either in this, or you’re not.”
Seixeiro finished his tirade by attacking Christians.
“And one last point,” Seixeiro said as he took aim at religious people. “Nothing scares me more than any human being who says ‘I’m not doing this because of my religious beliefs,’ because when you’ve looked at people’s lives who say that publicly, you’d throw up at what you saw. You would throw up at what you saw. And I’ve seen that a million times in many different ways. So don’t give me that, with respect, don’t give me that, ’cause no one’s perfect. Don’t feed me the religious beliefs line, and suddenly, the NHL’s gonna back off this.”
He ended his harangue by pounding his desk and demanding that the NHL take action, saying, “The National Hockey League today needs to fine that organization a million dollars and reevaluate how they support gay rights, ’cause that is an insult.
NHL Network Analyst EJ Hradek appeared on “NHL Now!” and commented that Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov should “Get on a plane” and “get involved” in the war in Ukraine, “If it bothers you that much, there’s always a chance to leave, go back to where you feel more comfortable — I understand there’s a conflict of sorts going on over there, maybe get involved,” Hradek said. All because he didn’t wear a Pride Night jersey.
Conclusion (Taking a stand for Jesus)
As a society, we must question where we decide what is right and what is wrong. Is it bad to have a private belief system, or is it suitable to demand that everyone should conform to the woke leftist liberal mob? As for the above analysts, they have kept their jobs, and the glaring hypocrisy of this is that other analysts have lost their jobs for much less offensive comments, such as Don Cherry and Jeremy Roenick. The woke mob has gone so far as to demand that Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin be banned from the NHL for his friendship with Vladimir Putin. Don Cherry lamented. “It’s the same crowd that went after me,” he said. “They don’t care about hockey, and it’s not about hockey. Alex is a great player and person, and he deserves better than being treated like this.”
The immoral minority is increasingly pushing its agenda on the moral majority while hypocritically claiming to be oppressed as if they are holocaust survivors. Christians are bullied into silence for fear of offending the mob, while the leftist mob makes increasingly irrational immoral demands. You can attack Christians with impunity, but you better be in lockstep with the goose-stepping LBGTQ agenda, or the persecution you will receive will be merciless. Ivan Provorov took a stand for Jesus; he never attacked anyone for their beliefs or life choices, he was polite in his refusal, and he was attacked and bullied because of it.
Interestingly, since the Provorov incident, the New York Rangers players to a man also refused to wear Pride jerseys. Finally, if you’re looking to find yourself an Ivan Provorov jersey, you may have a difficult time as they are entirely sold out on NHL Shop and Fanatics, with the exception of small. I guess Provorov has plenty of support after all…who knew?
