The Rangers would not shutout the Canadians again for 20 years; the next one came on October 13, 1990, with John Vanbiesbrouck backstopping the Blueshirts to a 3-0 victory.

The 1971 NHL playoffs would see the New York Rangers fall in seven games in the Semi-Finals to the Chicago Blackhawks, while the Montreal Canadians went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where they would edge the Blackhawks in a seven-game thriller, coming from behind in the series by counts of 2-0 and 3-2 in games.
