Connor McDavid
Player Profile: Connor McDavid (born January 13, 1997) is a Canadian professional NHL hockey player with the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid is the captain of the Oilers and is considered to be one of the best hockey players in the world. McDavid was selected first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he is a two-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer, winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player voted most valuable to his team, in 2017, as well as the Ted Lindsay Award twice as the best player voted by other NHL players.
McDavid is a franchise player, he is very quick and mobile and not afraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice. At 6 ft 1in and weighing 193 pounds he uses speed, size, and incredible stickhandling ability to lift fans out of their seats.
Player McDavid’s best season to date in terms of point production was during the 2018-2019 campaign where he amassed 41 goals, 75 assists for 116 points in 78 games, while only registering 20 minutes in penalties.
McDavid’s only playoff appearance was during the 2017 playoffs, where he and his Oilers thrilled their fans with a first-round series victory over the San Jose Sharks, winning the series four games to two. The next series was against the Anaheim Ducks where the Oilers narrowly lost the series in the seventh game, by a score of 2-1.
The eventual Stanley Cup winners in 2017 would prove to be the Pittsburgh Penguins, defeating the Nashville Predators in six games to capture their second consecutive Stanley Cup.
