Player Petr Sykora of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks scores 48 seconds into the 5th overtime period, as the Ducks defeat the Dallas Stars 3-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 60 saves in what became the 4th longest game in NHL playoff history.

The Duck’s would advance to the Stanley Cup Final that year, losing game seven to the New Jersey Devils. Interesting to note is that the home team won every game of the series. That series would also be remembered for Scott Stevens delivering a devastating hit on Ducks Captain Paul Kariya. The hit left Kariya motionless on the ice for several moments. Kariya would exact his revenge minutes later as he wired a wicked slap shot past Martin Brodeur to send the series to a decisive Game 7 back at the Meadow Lands in New Jersey, where the Devils would win the Cup in a 3-0 shut-out.

I think that Scott Stevens is still in the penalty box after that hit on Paul Kariya.
