Bauer Hockey Sticks
Recently I had a chance to try the Bauer Nexus ADV Grip Senior Hockey Stick. While running errands, I stopped in at the source for Sports in Regina. After doing a little shopping in the store, I asked the salesperson to sample the ADV Senior stick.
This is what I learned. The Bauer Nexus is all about technology innovation; the goal is to construct an ultra-lightweight stick (365 grams) with superior grip. The blade has a hole in the center; the idea here is that the top part of the edge is rigid in its construction to aid in controlling the puck, and the bottom part of the blade is more flexible to provide a quick-release. Hence the term slingshot effect. In addition to the edge, Bauer has contoured the stick’s shaft to a five sided shape to increase grip comfort while giving the player greater control with the puck.
After trying the Bauer Nexus ADV Grip Senior Hockey Stick, I conclude that, in my opinion, this is a technically advanced addition to any serious hockey player’s gear. It felt extremely comfortable in its grip/handling. Its weight is light as a feather, and the release and transfer of power were quite surprising, not to mention the amazing accuracy. Also, note you are to tape it in the same fashion as you would tape any other stick. This doesn’t detract in any way from the innovative performance of the stick.
The Bauer Nexus ADV Grip Senior Hockey Blade retails for $399.99 at my local Source For Sports in Regina, Saskatchewan, and believe me; if I could afford one, I would buy it today.
